Five Os finish LOL regular season with win over Hartland

With Hartland the regular season champion, Oconomowoc needed a win to keep second place and home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Oconomowoc took a 3-0 lead after five innings and held on to win 10-5. Hartland got to 3-2 in the top of the sixth before a four run sixth lead by a three run double by Sean Smith, who needed to appear in the game to be eligible for the playoffs.

Oconomowoc scored single runs in the first with a double by Jeff Rhoads scoring Luke Nelson, who had walked. In the third, a single by J. Rhoads scored Adam Schlosser who had also singled. Steve Rhoads doubled home Pete Schlosser, who had a leadoff single in the fourth. Hartland scored two runs in the sixth as Mark Gantner reached on an error and stole second and scored on a single by Chad Dibb. A single by Brian Henschel scored Dibb.

The Five Os scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth as Dan Schlosser and S. Rhoads were hit by pitches. Kevin Raasch had an rbi single and after Mike Bolson walked, Sean Smith cleared the bases with a double to the right center field fence for a 7-2 lead. In the top of the seventh inning Dibb singled home Matt Gantner and Bryan Laabs who had walked and advanced on an error that loaded the bases. With the bases loaded Mike Bolson fielded a come backer to the mound to end the inning. The Five Os completed their scoring in the bottom of the eighth inning with a single by J. Rhoads, Derek Nelson was hit by a pitch and Dan Schlosser hit his first Five Os home run, a three run shot, over the left field fence. The Oilers added a run in the top of the ninth with singles by the Gantners, Bryan Laabs scored on a fielder's choice that ended the game.

Mike Bolson earned the complete game win with five runs, two earned, on eight hits, four walks and six strike outs. J. Rhoads was 3 for 4 with two rbi's and a double. Steve "Dusty" Rhoads was 2 for 2 with a double and rbi. Sean Smith was 1 for 1 with three rbi's and Dan Schlosser had a home run, two runs and three rbi's.

Luke Knuppenburg started for the Oilers going five innings with three runs on seven hits, three walks and a strike out in the loss. Brian Henschel pitched two innings with four runs, two hits, four walks, three hits and two hit batters. Troy Dibb went one inning with three runs on two hits, a strike out and a walk. Dibb was 2 for 5 with a run scored and three rbi's. Bryan Laabs scored two runs.

Hartland finished in first place at 15-3. Oconomowoc tied for second place with Menomonee Falls at 14-4. The two teams tied in the first tie breaker at 1-1 head to head, 5-3 for the second breaker for record agaist other playoff teams and the Five Os win the third tie breaker which is a better record of team lost to and will host Pewaukee on Sunday at 1 PM.
