Sussex clung to it playoff hopes by coming back from a 7-2 deficit and scoring six runs in the last three innings to beat Oconomowoc 8-7. Cory Gasper's two out bloop single, his third straight hit, to right field scored winning pitcher Mike Heinig in the bottom of the ninth. After scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth, The Cardinals got within one run in the bottom of the seventh inning on singles by Andy Poch and Gasper, a walk to Nick Gelfi, a single by Luke Plese and walks to Matt Kopp, Heinig and Garrett Tetzlaff. Gasper scored three runs and had an RBI. Heinig, who reached on an error, allowed seven runs on 11 hits, three walks and nine strike outs. Plese had three hits and two RBI's. Poch scored two run and Seth Kroenke had two RBI's.
The Five Os were lead by Jeff Rhoads, who was 3 for 5 with two doubles and a home run, Derek Nelson was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBI's. Rhoads and Nelson's home runs were on consecutive pitches in the third inning for a 3-0 lead. Oconomowoc added three runs with two outs in the top of the fifth inning on Rhoads' double, Nelson's single, Raasch's double and a two run single by Dan Schlosser for a 6-0 lead. Kevin Raasch, who homered to lead off the seventh inning, was 2 for 5. Starter Derek Nelson went seven innings giving up seven runs on seven hits, 11 walks and eight strike outs. Jeff Rhoads took the loss giving up one unearned run on two hits and a walk in one and 2/3 innings.
