Rob Becker improved his record to 4-0 in the LOL West with another pitching gem over Sussex on Sunday. Rob threw a complete game giving up 3 earned runs, striking out 11 and walking 5. The entire Five Os team was relaxed when Becker ended his "dot-streak" with a plunk in the first inning. Becker's ERA in the LOL is now 2.13 with an opponent batting average of .172.
The win was not an easy one for Oconomowoc. Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the 6th, Erik Olson came up with the biggest hit of the game with a 2 out RBI single to left field to tie the game. Mike Eppler followed with another RBI single to give Oconomowoc the lead which they would not lose. The 8 and 9 hitters for Oconomowoc (Erik Olson and Mike Eppler) were a combined 4 for 8 with 2 RBIs. The hottest hitter for Oconomowc, Kevin Raasch, has 2 big hits in the contest as well. Other notable hitters for the Five Os were Jeff Rhoads and Luke Nelson - each with 2 hits a piece.
The win puts Oconomowoc at 10-2 in the LOL West, a half game behind division leader Hartland. Their next two games are Tri County contests against Slinger on Wednesday night and Pardeeville Friday night. Wednesday's contest is 7:30 pm at Watertown and Friday's game is at 8 pm in Pardeeville. On the weekend Oconomowoc has a LOL double header with Saturday at Merton and Sunday at Lannon. Both game times are 1:00 pm.
