Bad defense contributes in Os first loss of the season

On the strength of a six run, one earned, first inning, Menomonee Falls gave the Five Os their first loss of the season. Jeff Lueck and Jack Klebsadel lined singles to start off the bottom of the first inning. Starting pitcher Mike Bolson hit Bob Manders to load the bases. Jeff Pitrof reached on an error as Lueck, who had two hits in the game, scored on the play. Bolson struck out the next two batters for the chance to get out of the inning. The flood gates opened as Drew Hieptas doubled home two runs, Curt Weiskirch singled home two runs and Jeff Chadwick doubled home Weiskirch to complete the scoring. Pete Schlosser hit a home run to lead off the seventh inning for the lone Five Os run. Bolson gave up only three more hits in the game, for a total of eight, with two walks, two hit batters and seven strike outs in the loss. At the plate, Luke Nelson and Jeff Rhoads had two hits to lead the Five Os. Don August gave up one run with nine hits, a walk and ten strike outs in the complete game win. August enticed 12 ground ball outs.
The Five Os, Falls and Pewaukee are tied for second with 4-1 records in the Western Division. Hartland is the only remaining undefeated Western team. Oconomowoc next matchup will be Sunday against North Lake, in North Lake. Rumor has it North Lake is eager to receive another Caddy burnout. Game time is 1:00 pm.
