In another close finish, Oconomowoc took sole possession of first place with a 4-3 win over Menomonee Falls. Oconomowoc grew a steady lead of 4-0 going into the 8th inning when Falls answered with 3 runs. Luke Nelson relieved Mike Bolson on the mound to pick up the save. Bolson started the game and went 7 1/3 innings scattering 8 hits and striking out 6. Nelson came in for the rest of the way allowing 0 runs and striking out 3.
Oconomowoc was led at the plate by Jeff Rhoads who was 3 for 3 including a walk. Luke Nelson had 2 hits in the winning effort. Bolson also contributed in a big way at the plate with a solo home run in the 7th.
The win puts Oconomowoc in sole position of first place in the LOL West with a 8-1 record. Falls is tied for second place with with Hartland - each having 2 losses. Oconomowoc completes the 4th of July weekend hosting Merton on Sunday. Game time is 1:00 pm.
