A late 9th inning rally fell one run short when Oconomowoc lost to Hartland in LOL play on Saturday 4-3. Oconomowoc got on the boards early when Jeff Rhoads doubled in the first inning with 2 outs and then Kevin Raasch singled him in. Hartland responded with 2 runs in both the 2nd and 4th innings. Down 4-1 in the top of the 8th, Luke Nelson helped himself out with a solo home run to make it 4-2. In the top of the 9th, Derek Nelson started the inning by reaching on an error. With two outs, Paul Gephart beat out an infield single, eventually scoring Derek Nelson to make it 4-3. Luke Nelson then singled when Jeff Rhoads grounded out to shortstop to end the game. Both Luke Nelson and Brian Henschel threw complete games for their team on the mound. Luke struck out 6 and walked 6 while giving up 9 hits. At the plate, Oconomowoc was led by Luke Nelson, Jeff Rhoads and Kevin Raasch - who had 2 hits a piece.
Oconomowoc is now 9-2 in the LOL West which puts them in a tie for first place with Hartland. They will continue LOL play on Sunday against Sussex at home. Game time is 1:00 pm.
