Going into the bottom of the 9th Oconomowoc looked as if they had control of the game. They had a 3 run lead and were 3 outs away from another Tri County win at West Bend. However 5 walks and 2 wild pitches by Derek Nelson put West Bend back in the game and sent the contest into extra innings, where West Bend eventually won in 10 innings. West Bend managed to score 3 runs without getting a hit in the bottom of the 9th. Jeff Rhoads started on the hill for Oconomowoc and went 6 innings giving up 4 runs and 6 hits. At the plate the long ball was flying for Oconomowoc which had three home runs in the contest, including two by Mike Mitchell. The other came from Derek Nelson. Mike Mitchell and Kevin Raasch led the squad with 2 hits a piece. The loss drops Oconomowoc to 12-3 overall and 3-2 in the Tri County Nite League.
Oconomowoc's next game will be the first round of the SWABA tournament. Oconomowoc opens up against Rubicon at Watertown on Friday at 7:30 pm. SWABA is a single elimination tournament with 8 teams. The Five Os are defending SWABA champions. Then this weekend Oconomowoc plays their biggest game of the year at Hartland for first place in the LOL West. On Sunday they continue LOL action at home versus Sussex. Game time on Saturday is 2:00 pm and game time on Sunday is 1:00 pm.
