Five Os hold off 9th inning rally from Brookfield

A 3-run 9th inning rally by the Brookfield Bulldogs fell one run short to give Oconomowoc an 8-7 win. Luke Nelson came in to face one hitting and recorded the save with a popup to shortstop, stranding Ernie Castow, the tieing run, at third base.
Oconomowoc struck first with three runs in the top of the third inning as Dan Schlosser had the first of his two triples and one of four in the game. After Josh Fenzl was hit by a pitch, two outs later Luke Nelson coaxed a walk to load the bases. With two outs, Jeff Rhoads cleared the bases with a double down the left field line. In the fourth, Kevin Raasch walked, went to second on a single by Steve Rhoads, third on a balk and scored on a ground out by Dan Schlosser for a 4-0 lead. Moses Barker scored the first run for Brookfield in the fifth inning as he reached on an error, went to third on a single and scored on a throwing error. In the seventh, Josh Fenzl walked, went to third on a double by Adam Schlosser and scored on a wild pitch. Oconomowoc scored their final three runs in the eighth inning on a single by Derek Nelson, triples by Kevin Raasch and Dan Schlosser, and a single by Josh Fenzl for a 7-1 lead. Brookfield scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning with as Joe McBee singled, Jason Booth reached on an error, Steve Stuckey was hit by a pitch, Castro hit a sacrifice fly and rbi singles by Bill Lucyhshyn and Ryan Schweikent. In the bottom of the ninth, McBee doubled with two outs, P.J. Cannon singled, Stuckey doubled setting up Castro's triple.
The Five Os were led by Dan Schlosser and Steve Rhoads with two hits apiece. For Brookfield, Stuckey, McBee and Barker had two hits each. Rob Becker, who had allowed no earned runs going into the bottom of the ninth, got the win giving up seven runs, three earned, on 11 hits, a walk, hit batter and three strike outs. Luke Nelson got the save. Josh Eidt took the loss going 6 1/3 innings with five runs on four hits, four walks, three strike outs and a hit batter. Barker pitched the final 2 2/3 innings for Brookfield with three earned runs on six hits.
