In front of a packed Pewaukee croud, Pewaukee's Todd Bloedow popped out to Kevin Raasch with the bases loaded to end the game and keep Oconomowoc atop the LOL West with Menomonee Falls. Both team's defense struggled at times but a two run triple in the top of the 7th proved to be the run that put The Five Os over the edge. Mike Bolson started the game on the hill for Oconomowoc and went 8+ innings giving up 9 earned runs and striking out 4. After a lead off double in the bottom of the 9th by ex-Major Leaguer Doug Henry, Bolson was yanked for Derek Nelson to make his first appearance of the year. After struggling some early on and walking two batters to load the bases. Derek got Todd Bloedow to pop out for the final out of the game with the tieing run on second and the winning run on first. Mike Bolson picked up his 5th win of the year while Derek got his first save.
At the plate newcomer Paul Gephart continued to shine with another 3 for 6 day. Along with earning the win, Mike Bolson also had a 3 for 6 day, including a triple and 3 RBIs. Jeff Rhoads and Kevin Raasch contributed 2 hits apiece.
Oconomowoc and Menomonee Falls are the only two teams in the Western Division with one loss. The two first place teams will square up next Saturday in Oconomowoc and will sit one team alone at the top of the standings. Pewaukee falls to 5-3 in the West and sits in 5th place. On the big 4th of July weekend Oconomowoc hosts Pewaukee on Saturday and Merton on Sunday. Both games start at 1:00 pm.
