The Five Os lost to Slinger in Tri County Nite League action on Wednesday night by a score of 12-5. Oconomowoc had a great opportunity to take a lead early on but failed when they left 8 runners on base in the first 3 innings. Slinger capitalized by roughing up newcomer Ryan Soper for two runs in the 2nd and six more in the 3rd. Derek Nelson then came in and shut the door on Slinger for the most part only giving up 1 run in the next 5 innings. Steve Rhoads came in to close down the game and gave up 3 runs, only 1 of which were earned. Apparently Steve is aimed to take over the "dot-chamption" status for pitchers by beaning two batters in his one inning pitched. "No one else, especially Becker, will step up. So I hearby declare the title is mine," quoted The Dream.
At the plate for Oconomowoc Kevin Raasch, Erik Olson and Brian Salentine all had 3 hits, including a triple by the newcomer Salentine.
Oconomowoc's next match is Friday against Pardeeville and then a LOL weekend with Merton on Saturday and Lannon on Sunday. All games are away.
