Becker throws 5 hitter against Pewaukee to advance Os
Rob Becker threw his second straight pitching gem against Pewaukee in the first round of the LOL Western Division playoffs. Becker threw a complete game five hitter with four runs, two walks and four strike outs for Oconomowoc (#2 seed) against the visition 5 seed Muskies. John Arnold took the loss with eight runs, three earned, on ten hits, three walks and two strike outs in 7 2/3 innings. Dale Szachewicz gave up one walk in 1/3 inning.
Early in the game Pewaukee struck first when Shane Nelson lead off the game with a walk and scored on a sacrifice fly by starting pitcher Johnny Arnold in the top of the 1st. Todd Johnson followed with a home run and a 2-0 Pewaukee lead. In the bottom of the first inning, Jeff Rhoads reached on an error and scored on the first of two doubles by Derek Nelson. Oconomowoc tied the game in the bottom of the second inning as Pete Schlosser walked and scored on a double by Kevin Raasch. The Five Os went ahead 4-2 in the third inning as Luke Nelson singled and D. Nelson doubled followed by a two run single by Sean Smith. Pewaukee tied the game in the top of the seventh as Steve Schulte and Jose Alba singled followed by a two run two out double by Jamie Bloedow.
The Os were lead by L. Nelson's 2 for 4 and two rbi's, Derek Nelson's 2 for 4 with two doubles and two rbi's and Kevin Raasch's 2 for 4 with a double and rbi.
Oconomowoc will host #4 seed Lannon at 1 PM on Saturday for a chance to take on division winner Hartland on Sunday. The winner of the Hartland vs Oconomowoc/Lannon game will advance on to the 2004 LOL Grand Championship which begins next weekend. Special thanks to the Pewaukee players and fans for 2 great games at the end of the year.
