Neosho Beats Oconomowoc in Tri County Action

The Neosho Rockets handed Oconomowoc their third Tri County loss of the summer on Wednesday night. In a night where every Neosho starter got a hit, left hander Cal Olesko was too much for the Five Os bats to handle. Neosho got on the board early in the 1st when starting pitcher Shawn Tremaine walked the first two batters of the game who eventually came around to score on a past ball and single. Oconomowoc battled back and took the lead in the bottom of the 2nd when Tyler Malay led off the inning with a double. After a walk to Erik Olson, Shawn Tremaine doubled in a run and two more came in on fielders choice to give Oconomowoc a 3-2 lead. The score remained that way when Neosho did all their damage in the top of the 5th. They rapped out 6 singles in the inning and scored 5 times to regain the lead 7-3. Oconomowoc was able to push 2 across in the bottom of the 8th on a sac fly by Steve Rhoads and single by Mike Eppler, but fell short after that taking the 7-5 loss.
At the plate, Oconomowoc was led by Tyler Malay who was 2 for 3 with a double, walk and 2 runs scored. Tyler Zimmer also contributed 2 hits to the losing effort. Taking the loss for Oconomowoc was Shawn Tremaine who went 6 innings, gave up 7 earned runs, walking 3 and striking out 4. Steve Rhoads then came in to throw 3 impressive innings giving up no runs, walking none and striking out 5.
The loss puts Oconomowoc at 1-3 in the Tri County Night League and 5-3 overall. They have a huge LOL weekend with games at Brookfield (Blue Sox) on Saturday and at Merton on Sunday. Game times are 2:00 pm and 1:00 pm respectively.
