Past Year Writeups:
Oconomowoc Trounces Hartland 18-6

Oconomowoc's bats came alive in an 18-6 win over Hartland on Sunday in LOL action. Some of the Five Os starting pitchers were missing for the game giving Oconomowoc no bullpen, however Matt Schref stepped up to the challenge and tossed a complete game victory for Oconomowoc. In spite of a 183 pitch count after 8 innings, Matt's dad was pleased with the win but very disappointed in his son's high pitch total. "Let's just hope he gets a lot of ice on [his shouler]," he stated after the game. The game was scoreless until the top of the 4th when Mike Mitchell led off the inning by blasting his 6th home run of the season. Josh Bouche started another rally by singling later in the inning and eventually coming home courtesy of Erik Olson to put the Five Os ahead 2-0. They added one more in the 5th when Bouche hit a sac fly to score Mike Mitchell who had reached on a fielders choice. Oconomowoc added 3 more runs in the 6th on a 3-run home run by Jeff Rhoads and the game appeared to be out of reach for Hartland. However they came back in the bottom half of the inning and sent 9 batters to the plate getting 6 hits and cutting the lead to 6-5. Oconomowoc answered by sending 12 batters to the plate in the top of the 7th and dropped 9 runs on Hartland putting the score at 15-5. The inning was capped off by a home run from Josh Bouche, his first of his Five Os career and 3rd hit of the game. Hartland scored 1 in the 7th before Oconomowoc added 3 more in the 8th to secure a run rule.
Leading Oconomowoc was pitcher Matt Schref who threw a complete game on a day where the Five Os bullpen was light. Matt gave up 6 earned runs, struck out 8 and did not walk a batter in 8 innings of work. At the plate Josh Bouche and Jeff Rhoads each had 3 hits and a home run. Bouche had 4 RBIs while Rhoads had 7 RBIs and 2 doubles.
The win puts Oconomowoc at 12-0 in the LOL West and 13-7 overall. The host the Brookfield Blue Sox on the 4th of July at Roosevelt Field on Wednesday. Game time is 1:00 pm.
