Five Os Improve to 17-0 in LOL with Win Over Hartland

The Five Os handed Hartland a 10-3 loss on Sunday to improve their LOL record to 17-0. Oconomowoc got on The Oilers early when Jeff Rhoads hit a one-out double in the bottom of the 1st, stole 3rd base and then was brought home on a sac fly by Derek Nelson. In the bottom of the 3rd Oconomowoc extended the lead to 3-0 on solo home runs by Jeff Rhoads and Mike Mitchell. In the 4th Oconomowoc pushed the lead to 7-0 when they added 4 more runs highlighted by a 2-run blast from Luke Nelson. After the Five Os took an 8-0 lead, Hartland put 3 runs on the board in the top of the 6th off starter Rob Becker which would be their only runs of the day. Oconomowoc added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th after a lead off walk by Mike Mitchell, a ground rule double by Josh Bouche, sac fly by Mike Bolson and single by Tyler Malay.
Leading Oconomowoc at the plate was Jeff Rhoads who was 3 for 4 with a double, home run, walk and RBI along with Josh Bouche who was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBIs. Mike Mitchell had 2 hits, including a home run, in the winning effort.
Talking the win on the hill for the Five Os was Rob Becker who went 7 innings giving up 3 earned runs, allowing 7 hits, 2 walks and 1 hit batter while striking out 5. Matt Schref threw the final 2 scoreless innings giving up one hit and striking out 1. When reached via phone, Matt's father, who could not attend the game, stated, "My son's low pitch count performances are works of art. His brief ice regiments after the game make me a happy man." Once again, Matt's beefcake brigade of friends/fans were absent from the stands on what was a perfect day to improve ones tan.
The Five Os play their final regular season game of the year next Saturday against the Brookfield Bulldogs. The game is at Roosevelt Field in Oconomowoc and will begin at 2:00 pm.
