The Sussex Cardinals (#6 seed) shocked The Brookfield Bulldogs (#3 seed) on Saturday by beating them 9-5 in the opening round of the LOL West playoffs. Matt Kopp threw a complete game for Sussex and earned the win. The game was tied 5-5 going in the top of the 9th when Sussex was able to get 4 runs of reliever Ernest Castro.
Sussex will now face Oconomowoc on Sunday at 1:00 pm for a chance to go to the LOL Western Division Finals.
In the other playoff game, The West Bend 7-Up (#4 seed) beat The Brookfield Blue Sox (#5 seed) 7-2. West Bend will travel to Lannon on Sunday to face the Stonemen at 2:30 pm.
