Oconomowoc Five Os

One win away from a perfect 18-0 season, the Brookfield Bulldogs made sure there were going to be some LOL West playoffs this year. They handed Oconomowoc a 5-3 loss on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs jumped on the board early when leadoff hitter Jason Rutz led off the game by getting hit by a pitch, stealing second base and going to third on a throwing error. A double by Shane Davis and single by Ryan Schweikert put Brookfield up 2-0 before Oconomowoc even came to bat. Starting pitcher Josh Eidt kept Oconomowoc in line the majority of the game with Oconomowoc getting their first run in the bottom of the 8th on an RBI ground out by Jeff Rhoads. Going into the bottom of the 9th the Five Os were down 5-1. A one out walk to Steve Rhoads and back-to-back singles by Mike Bolson and Tyler Malay chased starter Josh Eidt from the game brought the tieing run to the plate for Oconomowoc. Reliever Ernest Castro struck out Tim Schlosser and got Luke Nelson to pop out to secure the win for the Bulldogs.
Leading Oconomowoc at the plate was Luke Nelson and Mike Bolson, each with 2 hits and a double. Luke Nelson took the loss going all 9 innings.
In other LOL West news, Sussex was able to squeak into the 6 seed for the playoffs with a win over the Brookfield Blue Sox and a Pewaukee loss to Menomonee Falls.
LOL West Playoffs
Oconomowoc finished as the 1 seed and Lannon got the 2 seed in the LOL West which will earn them a first round bye on Saturday. Sussex (6 seed) will play at Brookfield Bulldogs (3 seed) on Saturday at 1:00 pm. The Brookfield Blue Sox (5 seed) will play at West Bend (4 seed) at 2:30 pm on Saturday. If Sussex beats Brookfield, Oconomowoc will host Sussex on Sunday at 1:00 pm. If Sussex loses to Brookfield on Saturday, Oconomowoc will host the winner of the Brookfield Blue Sox/West Bend game on Sunday.
